Colombian Hass avocado exports grew in January

In January, Colombia exported 13,983 tons of Hass avocado, a notable 53% increase over the same month of the previous year. This increase in Hass avocado exports was especially outstanding during the US Super Bowl, consolidating the product as one of the event's stars.

The Corporation of Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters of Colombia, Corpohass, reported that -based on data from the Dian- exports in January 2024 had surpassed the 9,162 tons exported in January 2023. This growth is attributed to several factors, including the significant volume obtained from the season's main harvest and the US market's increase in demand, especially for the Super Bowl.

Colombia sent approximately 1,500 tons of Hass avocado to the US for this sporting event, i.e. 56% more than in the previous year. This increase positions Colombia as a close competitor to Mexico, the main supplier of this fruit to the United States. According to Corpohass, the positive results of January are also due to the better use of harvests and the producers' and exporters' advances in technical knowledge.
