São Francisco Valley company wants to double area planted with grapes

Tropical Vitivinícola is a company that operates in the São Francisco Valley. It has raised R$26.5 million (€5 mln) with the issuance of an Agribusiness Receivables Certificate. The company, growing fruit between Pernambuco and Bahia, will more than double its grape growing area in the next five years with the resources of an unprecedented operation in the Northeast Region. Tropical is already directing resources to convert company-owned areas in which it did not yet produce the fruit into grape plantations.

The company wants to convert 40 to 50 hectares per year, increasing the planting area from 187 to 500 hectares by 2028. The expansion should add 13,000 tons to the harvest during the period .
