The protocol for the entry of Chilean fresh apricots and peaches into China has been signed

After the meeting between the President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, the governments of both countries signed a series of agreements on agricultural, aquaculture, political, and cooperation matters.

This included the opening of the Chinese market for fresh Chilean apricots and peaches. Given the high consumption demand that China has for stone fruits, this new market opening implies new opportunities for producers and exporters of this type of fruit. This will allow us to bring greater territorial development to the regions where the production of these fruits is concentrated, that is, between the regions of Coquimbo and La Araucanía.

"We are very happy with the signing of the protocol that will allow all our stone fruits to enter the Chinese market. With this signing, not only do our exports to this market grow, but Chile becomes the country that can practically export all of its fruits to China," stated Ivan Marambio, president of ASOEX, who is part of President Boric's delegation visiting China.

It's worth noting that the inspectors of the Department of Quarantine of Animals and Plants of the General Administration of Customs of China, which was scheduled for November of this year, need to carry out a technical visit to Chile before the country can begin exporting this type of fruit to the Asian country. Once the audit is approved, the start of exports should begin this same season.

The agreements also include three Memorandums of Understanding on Phytosanitary Certification, Organic Food Certification Cooperation, and the development of a Chinese Demonstration Farm in Chile.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Organic Food Certification Cooperation will promote the development of a technical plan between the authorities of both countries so that they recognize each other's organic certifications in their bilateral trade, thus delivering greater value.
