Northeastern hinterland of Brazil is one of the largest grape producers

The northeastern hinterland of Brazil is one of the largest grape producers in the country. A lot of the cultivation is focused around Petrolina, a city located in the interior of Pernambuco, on the banks of the São Francisco River.

Petrolina is considered the grape capital of Brazil , as it has the largest fruit harvest in the country. In 2022, the municipality harvested 236,000 tons of grapes, which represents 16% of the entire national harvest. Furthermore, a large part of the production is used to make fine wines, which have already won awards and international recognition.

The table below shows the most produced agricultural crops in Petrolina. The information is from Embrapa.
