Bangladesh happy to export potatoes to Japan

Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque has made clear that a Japanese company has expressed interest to import potatoes. Razzaque said more than 10 million tons of potatoes are produced in the country every year, while domestic demand remains around 6 to 7 million tons.

He added that the demand for the varieties of potatoes that are currently being produced in Bangladesh is quite low abroad. Therefore, more attention is being given to the expansion of exportable and industrial-grade potato varieties.
