On November 27, the first import of Vietnamese passion fruit was cleared through Friendship Customs in Pingxiang, Guangxi. On the same day, a batch of 18.4 tons of Vietnamese passion fruit arrived in Puzhaihu District, Pingxiang, Guangxi. After passing the customs inspection and quarantine, it was directly transported to the factory for processing.
This is the first batch of Vietnamese passion fruit imported into China after the General Administration of Customs approved the pilot import of Vietnamese passion fruit in Guangxi, and completed customs clearance through mutual market processing.
Friendship Customs is the largest land-based fruit import port in China. In recent years, with the continuous deepening of trade cooperation between China and Vietnam, more and more Vietnamese high-quality agricultural products have been put on the tables of ordinary people in China through Friendship Customs. From January to October this year, 203,000 tons of Vietnamese agricultural products were imported through Friendship Customs, a year-on-year increase of 46.7%.
Due to climate differences, there is a time lag between Vietnam’s agricultural products and most of China’s agricultural products, especially fruits, which complement China’s agricultural product supply chain. "Passion fruit pulp, preserved fruit, etc. are our company's main products. The passion fruit planted in China starts to come to end from October to November every year, and the passion fruit in Vietnam has only been on the market since October, which can fill the gap in the shortage of domestic passion fruit," said Zhang Xinwen, chairman of an agricultural technology company in Pingxiang, Guangxi.
Wang Yi, Deputy Chief of the Second Section of Customs Supervision at Friendship Customs, said that on the basis of implementing strict quarantine, the customs has opened a green channel for imported perishable agricultural products and implemented rapid laboratory testing. Among them, the hierarchical inspection reform was implemented for imported fruits according to the risk level, which reduced the inspection time to 1/3 of the original, and increased the inspection efficiency by nearly 40%.
According to customs statistics, from January to October this year, 199,000 tons of Vietnamese fruits were imported through Friendship Customs, a year-on-year increase of 58.1%.
