Mixteca communities will export pitahaya and passion fruit to Europe and Asia

Researcher Raul Nieto Angel stated that they were working on a collaboration agreement with members of the Binational Organizations' Indigenous Front (FIOB), so that Mixteca communities produce and export 250,000 tons of pitahaya and passion fruit, mainly to China and Spain, each year.

As a result of the pandemic, it was discovered that pitahaya and passion fruit have various properties that strengthen the immune system, he said. This essential at this time that people need to strengthen their defenses with natural products.

The general coordinator of the FIOB, Ezequiel Rosales Carreño, said this production strip would be located from Santiago Juxtlahuaca, Tonalá, Huajuapan, to Santiago Chazumba. He also said the jobs created by this production would help stop the migration of the communities and benefit them.

He also said that this action would be carried out jointly with Mente y Tierra Fértil, an organization chaired by researcher Raul Nieto Angel, and that they hoped to finalize this agreement shortly.
