Trops and Ruchey sign a collaboration agreement in the production and commercialization of avocado

On July 22, 2021, Trops and the Cooperativa Agricola de Callosa d'en Sarrià (Ruchey) signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement was signed in the production and marketing of avocado.

Trops is a producer organization founded in 1979, specialized in the production and marketing of avocado and mango in the Iberian Peninsula, with more than 3,000 associated farmers. It has its own centers in the Portuguese Algarve, three in Malaga, three in Granada, and -thanks to this agreement- it can now offer its services in the Valencian Community.

The Agricultural Cooperative of Callosa d'en Sarrià was founded in 1958 and has more than 1,200 farmers. Its partners mainly grow medlars on their plots and they market them under the Ruchey brand. Since 1992 they have been protected with the protected designation of origin loquats from Callosa d'en Sarrià. It concentrates more than 50% of the national production of medlars.

For more than 20 years, its farmers have opted for the cultivation of avocado as an alternative to citrus fruits and today the cooperative is the largest producer of avocados in the Valencian Community.

Trops has its own production in Valencia and Alicante and this union will allow them to further expand the crop given the guarantees it offers farmers in terms of profitability, safety, transparency, and future possibilities thanks to the years of investments that have been made to research cultivation techniques, to improve and make the processes more efficient, and marketing investments.

Trops had already signed a similar agreement this year with the Unica 2nd grade Cooperative. With this new alliance, it continues its path of consolidating itself as the avocado and mango producers' company.

The presidents of both entities, Mr. Jose Lorca and Mr. Salvador Solbes, welcome the union of two leading brands in their products such as Trops and Ruchey, which will allow them to continue defending the productions of their partners in increasingly difficult and competitive markets.
