The Operational Group for the 'Adaptation of the Stone Fruit Sector to Climate Change' is organizing a webinar which will serve to analyze the varietal adaptation and productive orientation of stone fruit trees in the face of climate change, looking at the evidence by species, varieties and productive orientations from an adaptive point of view for different climatic zones. The online event is taking place on Thursday, July 1, at 4.30 p.m., through the Plataforma Tierra.
This is the second session of a cycle of webinars organized by the operational group to disseminate the results of the research work it has been carrying out over the last two years. Specifically, this online event will serve to report the results of a project for the identification and characterization of varietal groups that are suitable for cultivation in different climatic areas; adapted to current conditions and ready for future climate change scenarios.
Juan José Hueso, research coordinator of the Cajamar Experimental Station, will be at the helm of the webinar, while the presentation of the research results will be given by David Ruiz, CSIC scientist.

In recent years, there have been anomalies in the yields caused by climatic factors and an inadequate choice of varieties. This has been studied by the Operational Group for the Adaptation of the Stone Fruit Sector to Climate Change, and the results can help growers in the future with the design, development and implementation of innovative strategies and tools to facilitate adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change.
The Operational Group for the Adaptation of the Stone Fruit Sector to Climate Change is made up of Fecoam, Anecoop, Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de la Comunidad Valenciana, Bitec, ENAE Business School and Basol Fruit, with IMIDA and CEBAS-CSIC as research centers.
The Group also collaborates with entities and leading companies in the sector, such as Fundación Cajamar, Aemet, Frutas Anabella, El Ciruelo, Frutas Esther, Frutaria, Blancasol and Agromarketing.
