The National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) certified this year's first export of fresh citrus to Russia. The shipment left from the Euroamerica SA port complex, located in the town of Campana.
A team of professionals from Senasa's San Pedro and Zarate offices carried out the inspection and phytosanitary certification of the 5,576 tons of citrus being shipped at the Buenos Aires terminal.
Guillermo Ruffo, Senasa's coordinator of Plant Protection for Buenos Aires North Regional Center, said: “This ship marked the beginning of the 2021 fresh citrus export campaign to Russia. It's one more example of the demand there is in the world for our food products and how we aim to satisfy the demands of each destination country.”
The shipment consisted of 6,325 pallets of fresh fruits. Of these, 2,818 pallets were filled with lemons, 2,055 with mandarins, 44 with grapefruits, and there was a batch of 825 pallets of pears and 583 pallets of apples.
