Henk van der Meij, Hars & Hagebauer, the Netherlands

"Peru and the Ivory Coast to connect well on mango market"

Hars & Hagebauer's first mangos from the Ivory Coast were loaded last night. These should arrive in the Netherlands in week 16. "Many shippers are expecting to send fewer mangoes than last year. That wasn't a great year either", says Henk van der Meij.

"Blooming has been very regular so far. That usually means the trees bear fruit for a longer time. But that's always on condition that there's no rain. Rain usually brings the Ivorian season to a close at the beginning of May," Henk explains.

"It's generally still an uncertain season. As expected from a mango specialist, we offer mangos again from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast. Senegal follows." The market has been quiet in recent days. But he expects a good connection between Peru and Ivory Coast. "There are no shortages or surpluses. All in all, it's a healthy market," Henk concludes.
