Restructuring at traditional Düsseldorf company C. Kotz

"We want to continue to assert ourselves on the market by means of premium quality"

At the turn of the year, a restructuring was completed at the Düsseldorf-based wholesale company Christoph Kotz oHG. The long-standing shareholder and driving force behind the wholesale company, Christoph Kotz, retired from the company. He handed over the business shares to his long-time business partner Hasan Atula, who has been with the company for a good 25 years. The latter will now continue to run the company under the name Christoph Kotz e.K..

The Kotz family business has been located at the wholesale market since 1935 and is thus one of the long-established companies on the market site. The company has been at home in Hall 8 for many years. In 2013, the company headquarters was equipped with new, future-oriented cold storage rooms. The company maintains a wide-ranging, loyal clientele and is known for marketing its quality brands - such as Unicorn, Carmen and Monna Lisa - in a wide area. "We will continue to do so in the future," the new owner said.

"We supply 80-90 percent of retailers in the wide area. This is a great advantage, especially in times of Corona, because in contrast to gastronomy, sales in this segment could be maintained," says  Atula, who employs a total of six people.

Quality goods and expertise
For the Kotz company, the quality of the goods remains the top priority. "We want to assert ourselves on the market by means of premium quality," confirms Atula. But other aspects also play a role in everyday business. "The expertise is unfortunately more and more lacking at the wholesale market. You just need skilled personnel so that the wholesale market can be maintained in the future. That's why I also take a rather critical view of the new construction plans for the new wholesale market: in our opinion, the future should first be secured before a new market is built."
