Spanish supplier of exotics, Frutas 
Montosa, will have its own independent German LLC from January 15th onwards. It will be based in Brunsbüttel. From there, consumers will be supplied with with avocados and mangos via both the German as well as the Austrian market. Managing director of the new branch is Desirée Hecker (upper right), who previously worked for trading companies Euroberry, Univeg and Difrusa, among others.
"In times of Corona in particular, it is important to have someone on the ground at the sales market," Ms. Hecker explains. Initially, the German LLC will merely act as an import and marketing agency for the parent company. If everything goes well, however, the acquisition of a warehouse or logistics site in the Hamburg area would also be a possibility.

Opening a new German location was a logical step, says Ms. Hecker. "Montosa already had a location in Perpignan because France is one of its most important sales markets. In Germany and Austria, our clientele is still quite manageable so far: our guacamoles are already listed at some retail stores. The next step would be to also make our raw goods better known throughout Germany."
A substantial part of the goods is traded under the Sublime Gold label.
Available for delivery twelve months a year
Frutas Montosa was founded in 1982 and over the years has specialized in the production, processing and international marketing of avocados and mangos, as well as the production of guacamole. "We have our own plantations in southern Spain, but we also work with contract growers in South America as well as Africa. Thus, we are able to offer high quality avocados and mangos twelve months a year." In close cooperation with an external marketing agency, the company is also planning tastings and other marketing activities.
In addition to its own cultivation, processing and packaging capacities, Frutas Montosa also works with a permanent laboratory to ensure continuous high-quality fruit.
Currently, the Spanish avocado campaign is in full swing: "At the end of December, we were able to load the first batches, and normally we can deliver Spanish Hass avocados - also in organic quality - until June. Spanish mangoes of the Osteen and Kent varieties, on the other hand, are offered from September to December."
Promotional materials for tastings in German food retailers are already being developed.
