Discounter raises awareness of fair trade products during the Fair Week

Almost every second Fairtrade banana in Germany will be bought at Lidl

46 percent bananas, 81 percent limes and around 20 percent cocoa ingredients from certified cultivation were sold in German Lidl stores last year. This is the result of a current evaluation of the "Fairtrade Performance Report 2019", which breaks down the sales of selected Fairtrade products in the entire German market.

According to the evaluation, Lidl was one of the largest buyers and suppliers of Fairtrade-certified fruit products in Germany. The current range of around 30 Fairtrade products makes a sustainable contribution to improving living and working conditions in the countries where they are grown.

In order to further strengthen fair trade, the food retailer is once again focusing on its Fairtrade range this year on the occasion of Fair Week from September 11 to 25.
