Authorization of standard requested by Spanish lemon and grapefruit interprofessional

On May 27, the Secretary General for Agriculture and Food, Fernando Miranda, chaired the 39th plenary meeting of the General Council of Interprofessional Agro-Food Organizations (OIA), held by videoconference, authorizing the extension of the standard, with financial contribution, requested by the Lemon and Grapefruit Interprofessional Association (Ailimpo) for a period of five years.

Ailimpo plans to make 4.77 million Euro during the five campaigns (954,000 Euro for each season). Of this amount, around 80% will go to boost communication and promotion activities for lemon and grapefruit, while the rest will be dedicated to research, development and innovation tasks to improve the value chain of those products.

The Council, which has assessed the continuity of the work of the Ministry during this health crisis situation, has reviewed the situation of the different extensions of the standard that are currently in the processing phase.

The Council of Interprofessional Organizations is a collegiate body attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, according to the provisions of article 15 of Law 38/1994, of December 30, regulating interprofessional agro-food organizations.
