Grapefruit harvest season begins in South Africa

For South African grapefruits, the harvest season has begun. Most producers will commence their harvest in March 2020.

The year initially began with much optimism, with industry experts anticipating a positive export season. However, the Coronavirus outbreak in China has left exporters feeling uncertain, as China is the second-largest importer of grapefruit from South Africa and the outbreak of the virus is set to have a major impact on China's agricultural trade in 2020.
