Korla Pear supports affected areas in Hubei

Korla Pear cooperates with Pagoda to donate 10,000 pears

Wuhan is not the only city in Hubei. Other nearby cities are equally affected by the outbreak of the corona virus. The Korla Pear Association in Bayin'guolong, Xinjiang, is cooperating with Pagoda to donate more than 5,000 pears to more than 30 hospitals in Huanggang, Xiaogan, Yichang, Ezhou, and Xianning in Hubei. Korla Pear hopes the donation will help the hospital staff and residents of the affected areas.

Sheng Zhenming, president of the Korla Pear Association, stated that the friendship and mutual support between Hubei and Xinjiang runs deep. Since the initiative was proposed on January 28th, the association has received donations from more than 142 companies and individuals. The donations include more than 500 thousand yuan [71 thousand USD], 100 thousand surgical masks, as well as fruits and vegetables (pears, apples, carrots) with a total value of more than 3 million yuan [430 thousand USD]. The donation of 10 thousand pears was set up in cooperation with Pagoda. The first 5 thousand pears are already on their way to Hubei, and the second shipment is about to leave Korla. The fruit will be delivered to a warehouse in Wuhan, from where it will be distributed to hospitals in the affected areas.

This is not the first time that traders have worked together to donate fruit to affected areas. Pagoda worked  with Meituan Waimai on January 30th to donate fruit to patients in Wuhan hospitals; Pagoda also worked together with Zespri to deliver three truckloads of Zespri kiwi fruit to patients in Wuhan.

In addition, Pagoda has already donated 100 thousand surgical masks to people in Wuhan, and the Amity Foundation will double this donation with another 100 thousand surgical masks to aid in disease prevention on the front line of this epidemic. The second truck full of surgical masks donated by the Amity Foundation has already arrived in Wuhan.
