Leon van den Hombergh, Frankort & Koning:

"Partnership with melon grower, Agrolibano, in Honduras aligns perfectly with Brazilian season"

The partnership agreement between Agrolibano and Dutch company, Frankort & Koning, was reconfirmed this week. This deal is for the upcoming season. "We are delighted to give form to this partnership in the coming season once again," says Frankort & Koning's Leon van den Hombergh. “This partner in Honduras has been professionally cultivating melons for years now."

"They have also invested heavily in post-harvest treatments for the coming season. They have invested in the further optimization of melon cultivation too. For us, this partnership forms the perfect link to the Brazilian season. We have been able to rely on this partner's melons for years now."

Erik Bongaerts and Leon van den Hombergh, on behalf of Frankort & Koning, flanking Keny Molina and Marlon Canales, representing Agrolibano.

"There will enough Galia, Cantaloupe, and yellow melons coming our way. This will be the case until the start of the Spanish season. The striped Cantaloupe is also becoming more popular in the European market. It is often called the Charantais here. Honduras has a mild climate. The transit times between Honduras and Rotterdam are also very short. These factors ensure a very stable, reliable melon for early in the year," says Leon.

Agrolibano is a forerunner in environmentally-friendly cultivation. They also take responsibility for making a significant social contribution to the region. "We expect the first melons in January again. We will get these under the reliable Mike’s Melons label. It will be a good start to 2020," concludes Leon.
