Last week (October 21-27), prices in banana production areas fluctuated little, and the overall performance was good. In the first part of the week, prices in some production areas began to rise slightly. Although the market showed some resistance in the latter part of the week, prices did not fall but remained stable, and shipments in production areas were good, in general, and smoother than before.
Currently, production areas in Southwestern China have gradually started shipping, and the total volume is comparable to that from Guangxi. Prices in Guangxi and Laos are slightly higher, with good-quality volumes at more than 3 yuan/kg. Prices in Guangdong, Yunnan, and Myanmar are slightly lower, mostly below 3 yuan/kg, but the differences, in general, are not large. The pricing level in each production area is moderate.
In general, the current sales speed has improved compared with the previous period. Growers in a few production areas reported the increase in traders inquiring about goods. However, after the prices rose, the market showed a certain degree of resistance, indicating that it would take time for the market to adjust to the price increase.
