New machine to extract pomegranate arils

Pomegranates are becoming increasingly popular especially when it comes to juices, but fresh consumption is also on the up. So far, however, there have been difficulties in separating the internal part from the husk. Luckily there is now a mechanical way to do so.

"We needed an unusual solution as pomegranates have a complex structure. We came up with a machine that is easy to use and has a high production capacity," explains promoter Pasquale Damiani

The machine (patent application submitted) is small, yet it can process around 250/350 fruits per hour, depending on their size. "The unique mechanism separates the arils from the husk, so it is possible to obtain trays full of arils that can be sold on the market as fresh-cut products."

Washing and sanitizing are quick as the various components can be removed easily. In addition, the machine can be equipped with loading and packaging systems.
