"The costs of exporting Egyptian grapes are relatively high"

The grape season in started a few weeks ago and it’s looking quite good. According to one Egyptian exporter, the biggest issue is dealing with the high costs, but there is also a large harvest to compensate for that.

Amr Kadah is the CEO for Egyptian exporting company Fruit Kingdom for Export. They’re currently in the midst of their grape season: “The season started around mid-May and we expect the season to last until August for five types of grapes. The season is looking good, but we have had challenges. The produce is sold at a relatively high price, the same goes for the packaging materials and the cost of transportation.”

The costs are hopefully offset by the large amount of grapes the company is exporting: “We expect to send a larger volume this year than we did in the previous season, about 200 tons. Our grapes are exported to England, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Malaysia and Arab Gulf countries. We’ll have competition from Spain, Chile India and Greece. Luckily our production is abundant for this year and our prices are very suitable, so we don’t expect any real problems!”
