Soursop is a highly antioxidant fruit from the same family of the cherimoya and it is credited with containing anti-cancer properties. Now, this delicious exotic fruit with a limited shelf life, can be found cut and ready to consume, and can be preserved longer thanks to vacuum packaging, according to Antonio Montes, of the commercial department of the Frutas Hermanos Montes, from Madrid.
"We have been working with this product for about 5 months and our customers are delighted. In addition to increasing its shelf life by vacuum packing it, selling these cut pieces allows consumers to consume this fruit at once, without having to waste anything. Distributors find it easier to sell these parts than the entire product, which is quite expensive."

Hermanos Montes imports this innovative product from Colombia and exports it mainly to Germany, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. "We are interested in accessing the Chinese market as well as growing in the national market," Antonio Montes stated. "The product is shipped in styrofoam boxes so it can better withstand temperature changes during the trip. We are looking for ways to print our brand on the packaging in this material through a company in Spain," he added.

The philosophy of this company, which distributes its products mainly in wholesale markets, is to always find the best suppliers of each product. "We only work with premium products, which, despite being more expensive to obtain, allow us to make a difference in a market where there are many mediocre products," he said.

In its line of exotic fruits, Hermanos Montes also offers mango, among other products. "We work with mango all year round. At the moment it's more complicated to find premium quality mango because there are few volumes available from Africa and Brazil. However, although there is a shortage, the demand for exotic products tends to decline in summer, as seasonal products, such as stone fruit, go on sale."
