Obst vom Bodensee Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH:

"Organic apples from Lake Constance are available until the middle of the year"

The long, hot summer of 2018 also brought a very gratifying harvest to the Lake Constance organic fruit growers: "In general, the climatic conditions in the southernmost fruit-growing region in Germany offer optimal conditions for high-quality fruit," says Markus Schraff, Sales Manager for Organic Products The fruit from Bodensee Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH.

"Thanks to the many hours of sunshine last year, our numerous apple varieties have developed a particularly tasty aroma this time." The amount of harvested apples has also been significantly larger than in previous years. "Many of our customers have always wanted to be supplied with local organic products until the start of the new season," says Markus Schraff. "We can fulfill this wish in 2019: We will have many different varieties of the highest quality available until at least mid-July."

Large selection of organic apples
Already the marketing of regional organic products is in full swing: the still new and already very popular varieties Santana and Galant are sold. Also the Elstar, the favorite apple of the Germans, will see strong sales on Lake Constance. In addition to the Elstar, the Topaz, Gala, Braeburn and Pinova varieties will be available in the coming weeks.

From March and April, the high-flavor assortment gets another fresh kick, with the Fuji, Jonagold, Red Jonaprince and Dalinsweet arrving on the shelves. The grand finale will be the Natyra® - the new organic premium variety that has been specially bred for organic farming and has been on the market only recently.

Already, the juicy apple with its harmonious relationship between sweetness and acidity has many fans. Its intrinsic values are impressive as well - the Natyra® tastes crisp and fresh even weeks after purchase and can therefore be stored without any problems. The fruit from Bodensee Vertriebsgesellschaft will be offering this apple, which was awarded as Bavaria's best organic product in the gold category, in large quantities over several months.

New ways in packaging design
Regarding organic apples from Lake Constance, Esther Dworak, Marketing Manager of Obst vom Bodensee Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH says: "For many years, we have been working intensively on the topic of sustainable packaging. We will reduce the share of plastic wherever possible, and we also offer alternative solutions made of cellulose and cotton for meshes." Just in time for the start of the trade fair, the first film-free foodtainers arrive on the shelves of the food retail trade. "We are looking forward to consumer feedback."

Safety for the Consumers
Organic farming is particularly important to the organic fruit growers on Lake Constance, therefore these fruit growers are producing according to the strict guidelines of the organic farming associations Bioland, Naturland and Demeter. This means that the organic fruit growers commit themselves to the observance of the specifications of these cultivation federations, which go in some cases far beyond the legal requirements.

"The focus of organic farming on Lake Constance is in the region of Ravensburg. The organic cultivation areas of the various family businesses border on each other, so that a secure production is guaranteed," says Markus Schraff.
