Price expected to slightly rise

Shatang tangerine sales come to an end in some Chinese production areas

Visiting fruit traders who came to Shatang tangerine production areas in the weeks prior to the Chinese Spring Festival [February 5th, 2019] have returned home for the festivities. This practically concluded the Shatang tangerine sales season for most farmers, though some production areas still have more than 50% of their supply volume. The price of Shatang tangerines showed little fluctuation before Spring Festival, but is expected to slightly increase by 0.2-0.3 yuan [0.03-0.04 USD] per 0.5 kg.

This season's supply of Shatang tangerines from important production areas in Guilin Prefecture was hindered by excessive rainfall in December and January. Lipu County and Lingui County are left with more than 50% of their supply volume unsold, while Yangshuo County and Shuifu County still have more than 20%-30%. Shatang tangerine sales from Jinxiu County and Xiangzhou County in Laibin Prefecture are particularly slow, but some fruit traders expect the price of Shatang tangerines harvest just after Spring Festival to rise by 0.3 yuan [0.04 USD] per 0.5 kg.
