Chinese import of Egyptian oranges increased by 20%

Egypt is one of the largest exporters of oranges, just behind South Africa and the USA. It is also the third-largest orange supplier to China. Egyptian orange export to China rapidly increased in the last few years. Mohsen, chairman of the Horticultural Export Improvement Association (HEIA), stated that Egypt initially exported around 23 thousand tons of oranges to China, but that volume quickly grew to more than 36 thousand tons in 2016 and 101 thousand tons in 2017. That is a threefold increase in 3 years.

Servincom is an Egyptian orange export company with more than 50 years of experience. The manager, Sherif, stated that their orange export volume since the beginning of December until now increased by 20% in comparison with the same period last year. Servincom exported as much as 760 tons of Navel oranges to China. Sherif explained that the orange export to China will continue until the last day of June.

In addition to China, Egypt also exports oranges to Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
