Ecuador: Guayaquil will host the Second Agricultural ecosystems International Congress

The II International Agricultural-ecosystems Congress: Agroecology, Alternative Markets, and Climate Change will be held on February 1 and 2, 2019. The event, which will include 16 foreign and national presentations, will showcase ecological agriculture as a model of Sustainable Development that can contribute to the growth of Ecuador's agricultural sector. The event will be held at the Gustavo Galindo campus (Prosperina), of the ESPOL and has the academic endorsement of the EARTH University of Costa Rica and the Polytechnic High School of the Coast, ESPOL.

The Congress' activities include: a Discussion Forum, Technical and commercial talks; a Business Roundtable between sellers of agro-ecological products and buyers; a permanent exhibition of companies linked to the agro-industrial sector; practical workshops, and a visit to the Bona Terra Agro-ecological Fair. The Congress is aimed at agricultural and livestock producers; agribusiness and tourism entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, teachers, as well as professionals from the public and private sectors that are linked to sustainable rural development.

Academics and scientists from different countries, such as Belgium, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, will make presentations about different issues that contribute to the sustainability and resilience of rural and urban agro-productive systems, as well as alternatives and marketing opportunities, with special attention to local circuits and urban agriculture.

Business roundtable
On February 1, and in parallel to the Congress, there will be a Business Roundtable where companies interested in buying organic, agro-ecological, semi-processed products, etc., will have business appointments scheduled with producers. This will allow creating short, medium, and / or long term business links, with new marketing channels and new markets.
