China: 200 tons of Chilean cherries have arrived at Chongqing

On January 6th, Chongqing Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City held a launch ceremony for the Chilean Cherry Release. 200 tons of Chilean cherries have entered the Shuangfu International Farmers Fruit Market. Chile is one of the biggest exporter of cherries. Last year, it exported 160,000 tons of cherries to China, which accounted for 85% of the export of Chilean cherries.

The wholesale price of imported cherries fell by 20%, which means that more Chilean cherries will enter the public fruit basket in the future. At present, Chongqing's imported cherries are mainly from Chile, New Zealand and other countries.

Before New Year's Day, the retail price of imported cherries was 70-80 yuan per 500 grams. On the 7th of January, the price was around 60 yuan per 500 grams, and the retail price fell 20%. According to Chongqing Shuangfu International Agricultural Trade City this year, more than 300,000 tons of Chilean cherries will enter China, almost double the total of 160,000 tons last year.
