The Chilean Cherry Association joined the commercial department of the Chilean consulate in Shanghai and Jiaxing Haiguangxing Premium Fruit Market on December 27th to present a Chilean Cherry News Conference in the Jiaxing Market.
Honored guests at the news conference
"Chile has more than a decade of cherry export history with China," said the head of the commercial department during the festivities. "Our cherries perform very well in the Chinese market. China accounts for 85% of the export volume of cherries from Chile. In previous years our cherries were mainly sold in a few large cities, but more recently Chilean cherries can be found in a great number of medium and small cities throughout China."
Jiaxing Market has become the largest fruit wholesale market in east China and the third-largest in all of China after 20 years of development. Jiaxing Market previously specialized in retail of domestic fruit, but as fruit import rapidly increased in volume, another market was constructed next to the original Jiaxing Market, named Jiaxing Haiguangxing Premium Fruit Market. This market handles imported fruit.
Haiguangxing Market opened for business on September 10th, 2018, and has already become the largest tropical fruit market in east China. The trade in products from the West also doubled in comparison with last year. Haiguangxing Market is the third-largest market for Chilean cherries in China, behind markets in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
