Staay’s Brazilian melons to get Rainforest Alliance certification

Soon, the Staay Food Group will be able to supply its Brazilian melons as Rainforest Alliance certified. This Dutch company's permanent cultivation partner in Brazil has passed the audit required to make this happen. This means that the group's Dulce brand of Brazilian melons can be delivered bearing this mark of sustainability. This is in addition to their entire crop from Costa Rica, which is also certified in the same way.

Shortly after the Brazilian melon season starts, the Staay Food Group will have various melons varieties available that have been certified as sustainable. These are the Galia, Cantaloupe, and yellow melon. Their seedless and Quetzali watermelon will also be certified in this way.

The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization. It is dedicated to preserving biodiversity and the rights and well-being of workers, their families, and their communities. The Rainforest Alliance Certified label requires growers to practice more sustainable agricultural activities. This ensures and promotes safe working conditions, sustainable livelihoods, and care for the environment. It also encourages the conservation of biodiversity. This label can be found on products like coffee, tea, and fruit.

Top quality label
The Rainforest Alliance label has been rated as a top-quality label. This was done by Milieu Centraal. This Dutch public information foundation rated it as such because of its high score on controls, transparency, and sustainability. Eleven top-quality labels have been nominated in the Netherlands. This was done in collaboration with that country's Nutrition center and other experts. These labels scored high in the areas of controls, transparency and the environment. They also scored high when it came to animal welfare as well as improved human well-being and employment conditions.

The Staay Food Group is expanding its range of Rainforest Alliance certified supply. With this, they are taking another important step towards striving for a future with an optimum availability of sustainable food.
