Chile took fruits to the meeting of the FAO Committee on Agriculture in Italy

The participants of the last Committee on Agriculture of the United Nations Food Organization (FAO) were greeted with a fruit cart filled with Chilean apples, pears, kiwis, and citrus fruit.

"We are happy and honored that our fruits could have been present at the global meeting of the leaders of the FAO Committee on Agriculture. We thank the Embassy of Chile in Italy; the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile, and the FAO for the opportunity they gave us to show our products and express how important increasing consumption of fresh fruits is for the people's health and nutrition; which is why we support the motion to celebrate the International Fruits and Vegetables Day," said Ronald Bown, the President of ASOEX.

Two promoters dressed with aprons from Fruits from Chile offered and gave fruits to the people that wanted to enjoy them.

The Chilean proposal
"Our delegation is very happy because we had the opportunity to present the Chilean proposal of advancing the international fruit and vegetable year by 2021 at the FAO agricultural committee, in front of all the countries of the world. This was going to happen in the year 2026 and we have come to Rome to ask that it be carried out sooner. We had a great acceptance, especially by the Director General of the FAO, Jose Graziani," said the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker.

In addition, Isabel Zacarias, the Executive Director of 5 al Día Chile, spoke to the Committee about fruit and vegetable consumption in Chile, the actions being carried out in the country to promote consumption of these products, and how the public and private sector support said actions. The President of 5 al Dia Chile, Fernando Vio del Rio, also attended the meeting.
