Emergent Cold LatAm has expanded two of its cold storage facilities in Guatemala, increasing total national capacity to 32,000 pallet positions. The expansions, located in Palín and Xela, add more than 12,000 pallet positions, equal to approximately 12,500 tons of food storage.
The Palín site gained an additional 9,000 pallet positions. Its location between Guatemala City and Puerto Quetzal makes it a key corridor for refrigerated logistics. The facility in Xela (Quetzaltenango), Guatemala's second-largest city, also serves as a logistics hub for the western region. According to the company, the expansions will create around 70 direct jobs and at least 250 indirect jobs.

Alain Eichmann, Managing Director for the Caribbean region, said the company's investment strategy reflects its current operations in Guatemala. He also noted the role of customer demand and the company's cooperation with Losa Group, a local investor involved in cold chain infrastructure projects.
Emergent Cold LatAm entered the Guatemalan market in May 2022 through the acquisition of a local operator. The first expansion at the Palín facility was completed later that year, in September. In addition to the Palín and Xela sites, the company also operates a facility in Villa Nueva. Together, the three locations now provide storage for 32,000 pallet positions.
