Walmart, Target & Kroger among stores facing fines under new 'conspicuous pricing' rule
Grocery store retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Kroger may be subjected to fines up to $250 for failing to adhere to regulations regarding conspicuous pricing. The legislation would be a major win for shoppers who use online grocery delivery and pickup services.
Since the pandemic, more and more consumers have turned to platforms such as Instacart, Uber Eats, and DoorDash to avoid having to make their weekly grocery runs. However, shoppers often see higher prices on these online platforms because retailers increase the prices listed on the delivery app in order to cover the commission fees charged by the platform.
