Chef and television personality Audra Morrice has been appointed as the new International Culinary Ambassador for Australian Avocados. The appointment is supported by the Australian Fruits Culinary Training Program, funded through a grant from the ASEAN-Australia Centre (AAC).
Morrice, known for her roles as a judge on MasterChef Asia and MasterChef Singapore, will lead a series of culinary workshops and mentorship programs in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand in 2026. The initiative aims to promote collaboration between Australia and Southeast Asia through culinary exchange and professional development.

Fiona Hoggart, Head of the ASEAN-Australia Centre at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said the partnership aligns with the Centre's broader objectives. "Audra's appointment as International Culinary Ambassador for Australian Avocados beautifully captures the spirit of regional collaboration we champion here at the ASEAN-Australia Centre," she said. "Her passion for sustainable gastronomy and cultural storytelling will help to further deepen connections between Australia and Southeast Asia through the universal language of food."
Avocados Australia CEO John Tyas said Morrice's experience and background align well with the goals of the program. "Audra's rich cultural experiences and love of Australian produce will work hand-in-hand in her role as Avocados Australia's International Culinary Ambassador," he said. "Her leadership and experience make her the right ambassador to help young chefs in ASEAN discover how Australian avocados can elevate local flavours and dishes."
The initiative highlights the role of Australian avocados as a key horticultural export and aims to encourage their use in regional cuisine by focusing on provenance, sustainability, and culinary adaptation.
Morrice, who was born in Singapore to a Chinese-Indian family with Malaysian roots, is now based in Australia. Her career includes roles as a chef, author, television host, and advocate for cross-cultural culinary exchange. She also serves on the ASEAN-Australia Centre Advisory Board, is an ambassador for the Singapore Tourism Board, and a patron of the Australia Malaysia Singapore Association.
Commenting on her new role, Morrice said: "Australian avocados have long been recognised across Asia as a premium, high-quality product. This program will further deepen understanding of avocados, from cultivation and management to their diverse culinary applications. I'm genuinely excited to see how emerging chefs will showcase the incredible versatility of this fruit by applying their local spin."
