South Korea recalls Vietnamese bananas over pesticide residue

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea announced on the 30th that it has suspended sales and initiated a recall of Vietnamese bananas imported and sold by Lotte Shopping's Lotte Mart Business Division.

According to the ministry, residues of the pesticides clothianidin and thiamethoxam were detected in the bananas at levels exceeding permitted limits. Both substances are commonly used to control pests on fruits and vegetables.

The affected batch totals 51,480 kilograms and was produced in 2025. The ministry advised consumers who purchased the product to stop consuming it and return it to the place of purchase.
