"We are finishing the mango season for the United States and starting to increase the volumes destined for Europe," says Aléxia Souza from Grand Valle. The transition of markets is accompanied by a gradual increase in supply. "In two or three weeks, we will have much more volume in Brazil, which will put pressure on prices. However, the delay in the Peruvian season will prevent drastic falls.
"Currently, the reference price for the European market is around 4.30 to 4.50 euros per 4kg box, while in the United States, sales reach 14-15 dollars per box, driven by limited availability," she stated.

Brazil primarily exports Palmer, Kent, Keitt, and Tommy Atkins varieties. "The U.S. market has mainly received Tommy and Palmer, while Europe is increasingly demanding Kent and Keitt, especially from supermarket chains. The trend is clear: European buyers are prioritizing Kent and Keitt over Palmer. This year, the demand for Kent is much higher," she stated.
Kent mango, available only in the second half of the year, will play an important role this year. Thanks to favorable weather and abundant flowering, Grand Valle was able to start harvesting earlier and expects higher volumes without production delays.

"One of the main issues during the American season was the detection of the fruit fly, which resulted in the closure of several productive areas. We had to cut back between 30% and 40% of our total volume intended for the United States. The demand was there, but we didn't have enough fruit to export," Aléxia stated.
"This widespread shortage led to a price increase in North America, where prices went from the typical $10 to over $14 per box," she added.
On the logistical front, Brazil is starting to encounter space constraints in shipping routes and delays in maritime transport, which could complicate exports during the peak season.
"Ecuador has started the season well, but its commercial window doesn't quite overlap with Brazil's, so it's not a major obstacle. With a stable supply, high-quality standards, and strong demand, particularly for the Kent variety, the outlook for the Brazilian season looks promising. We anticipate a very successful Brazilian mango season this year. The mix of good volumes, appealing prices, and market preference gives us a competitive edge," Aléxia concluded.
