Haryana builds cold storage at Hisar Airport

The Haryana government will develop advanced warehousing infrastructure at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to improve storage and exports of horticultural produce. The Haryana State Warehousing Corporation will establish modern cold storage and air cargo facilities at the airport to preserve crop quality and freshness through temperature-controlled storage and to ensure compliance with export standards.

Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini said the government is committed to increasing farmers' incomes and connecting their produce to global markets. He noted that the new warehouse infrastructure at Hisar Airport would provide farmers with an identity in international trade and help position Haryana as an agricultural export hub. The facility will maintain crop quality, reduce spoilage, and streamline export processes.

The project will focus on the export of perishable crops such as strawberries, guavas, and kinnows, particularly from districts including Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad, which are developing as horticultural production areas.

According to the government, the establishment of warehousing facilities at the airport is expected to reduce food waste, promote exports, and support Haryana's position in horticultural production and trade. By providing farmers with access to modern storage and air cargo infrastructure, the initiative aims to secure stable prices for crops and support the agricultural sector's integration into international markets.
