"We are preparing for another record harvest of pomegranates, with a slight increase in volumes compared to last year. We have estimated over 710 tonnes of fruits on the plants - all Lome Super Fruit-branded pomegranates. We are about to start harvesting operations on our 400 hectares, boasting 200,000 pomegranate plants. We will start with the first deliveries next week," reports Dario De Lisi, sales manager at Masseria Fruttirossi, Italy's leading pomegranate producer.

The first operations will concern the earliest cultivars such as Ako, Emek, and Shany, thus reaching the markets a month earlier than the competition, and then continue with the most popular variety, Wonderful, whose harvesting will begin in mid-October.
"Thanks to the soil and weather conditions - which are particularly favourable for growing pomegranates in this part of Puglia - and, above all, to the constant improvement of the already excellent agronomic management in the field carried out by production manager Davide De Lisi, this year we are pleased to record a significant improvement in the quality of the fruits, not only when it comes to flavour and consistency, but above all in the external appearance, in terms of colour and uniformity of the skin. This will allow us to have greater quantities of those top-tier pomegranates that are requested in larger volumes every year by our customers, both domestic and foreign."

With reference to turnover, the manager points out that, in 2025, the value of exports equalled the domestic one, with new Dutch and Finnish customers joining the already loyal ones from Germany, Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom. While on the Italian market, the demand for premium pomegranates from major retail chains has increased.
In explaining what this commercial success is due to, Mr. De Lisi adds that: "Today, Masseria Fruttirossi is the only Italian company that can ensure significant volumes of pomegranates with guaranteed quality and traceability, thus allowing buyers and players to plan ahead for the season from the beginning of September to March, i.e., for more than six months."

Masseria Fruttirossi boasts around seven thousand square metres of cold storage units. "More than half of them are controlled atmosphere facilities where we store a large part of the harvest, naturally delaying the ripening of the fruit. Within a few months, this storage capacity will be almost doubled with the inauguration of a new facility. Our goal is to be able to guarantee the availability of pomegranates the whole year round, a need already expressed to us by our most important customers who prefer dealing with a single supplier," concludes De Lisi.
