Egyptian sweet potatoes are just coming into the main part of the season; volumes are set to increase as we go into September.

"We started the new season of Egyptian sweet potatoes in July with the low volumes of the early crop," explains Daniel Badger from Vitafresh Produce. "Volumes will increase into September, and we will have a good supply until at least June next year."
Vitafresh exports the Evangeline, Beauregard, and Bellvue varieties to Europe and the UK.

"We are exporting around five containers a week to these markets. The quality is really very nice. Over the last few years, Egyptian growers have really improved the quality of the sweet potatoes; they have a great appearance and skin finish, and store very well. I expect to be able to have a 12-month supply in the coming years."

"We may see a gap from late May/ early June, but until then, we have a continuous supply with the same quality under the same brand."
