Crown Pear
According to China Customs statistics, fresh pear exports to the EU and the UK in 2024 increased by 13.86% compared with 2023. In the first half of 2025, shipments rose by a further 18.26% year-on-year. Exports to the Middle East market also recorded notable growth, rising 3.69% in 2024 and 62.51% in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
Industry sources note that while demand in the EU and UK is developing, overseas sales are still largely supported by Asian immigrant communities. Preferences among Chinese, East Asian, and Southeast Asian consumers have played a key role in sustaining retail demand. Improved cold-chain logistics and packaging have also supported shelf life, increasing acceptance in both retail and e-commerce channels.

At present, Crown pears remain the main variety exported, as they are widely available year-round and familiar to consumers. Alongside this, ten additional varieties have been introduced to provide different taste profiles and extend the supply window in overseas markets.
The growth in exports has also brought stronger competition. With new-season Crown pears now available, exporters are focusing on diversifying product ranges and maintaining supply consistency. Longer-term growth will depend on consumer acceptance and the ability to adapt to local consumption habits in overseas markets.
