The weather in India has been favorable for the production of guava this season, meaning there will be a higher yield, says Sourabh Jaiswal, Business Development Manager for Indian produce exporter KK Star: "This season, the guava production in India is looking strong. The rains arrived right on time, and the weather has been just right, which means our orchards are thriving. Compared to past years, yields are up, and the fruit quality is reliable. We expect guava prices to remain competitive."

With the higher production, Jaiswal states that it's positive that the international demand for the guava from India has also increased in recent years. "Good rainfall and generally favorable climatic conditions have directly led to an increase in yield per hectare, supporting higher volumes for both domestic and international markets. Over the past few years, we've witnessed a consistent upward trend in international demand, which is both encouraging and motivating for us as exporters. Especially the increasingly popular Thai variety continues to grow in export markets."
Jaiswal emphasizes they would really like to enter new markets in both Europe as well as the Middle East: "Currently, our primary export markets for guava include Europe, the Middle East, the UK, and Singapore. These regions have remained strong and steady in their demand for quality guava from India. This year, we're focusing on expanding to Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. We're already working on building connections in these new markets."

To get a bigger foothold in the European market, the growers have had to receive education and awareness about these required standards, Jaiswal explains. "One of the major challenges we face, especially with the European market, involves meeting strict residue and pesticide requirements. To address this, we have ramped up our agro-management strategies, conducted regular testing, and focused on farmer education and awareness. These measures ensure that our produce remains compliant with international quality standards."
"If the good conditions continue, we're on track to export about 130-150 metric tonnes of fresh guava this season. We're ready to serve our loyal clients and welcome new ones," Jaiswal concludes.
