Peru exported 2,249 containers with 39,102 tons of pomegranate in the 2025 season, i.e., 37% more volume than last year. According to data from the consulting firm Fresh Cargo, the total FOB value reached $99.3 million, consolidating the country as a relevant supplier in the international market.
The average export price stood at $ 2.54 per kilo, with a total of 9.5 million commercial units sent abroad. Maritime transport increased by 38% and accounted for 99% of the volume, while land shipments fell by 11%. Air transport, although marginal, increased by 157%, showing an incipient diversification in logistics.
Europe remained the main destination, with a 73% share and a 26% increase over the previous year. North America accounted for 14% of shipments and grew by 63%, while the Middle East, with 10% of the total, experienced a 220% increase. Shipments to Africa increased by 154%, but only accounted for 1% of the volume. In contrast, shipments to Asia fell by 46%, which is a challenge for the coming seasons.
Ica accounted for 77% of the national production, followed by Arequipa (18%), Lima, Tacna, and La Libertad (which together accounted for 5%).
The Wonderful variety accounted for 98% of exports, while ACCO and NS accounted for a small share. The Middle East paid the highest average price ($3.25 per kilo), despite its low volume share. In contrast, Latin America and Africa recorded the lowest values (less than $2/kg). Prices in North America and Europe remained stable and competitive.
