Switzerland:

Organic apricots started in May at high prices

Organic mixed lettuce cost CHF 17.43/kg (USD 21.91) in traditional retail outlets in May. Since June 2023, its monthly price has remained almost entirely within the range of CHF 17.43 to CHF 17.46/kg (except for December 2024, when it was CHF 18.89/kg, or USD 23.75). During the same period, the price of non-organic mixed salad leaves fell significantly: they cost 9.45 CHF/kg (USD 11.88) in June 2023 but 8.28 CHF/kg (USD 10.41) in May 2025 (-12.4%). As a result, the price difference between organic and non-organic products increased. From October 2024 to May 2025, it was always above 100 percent.

Organic apricots started off expensive in May
The first organic apricots of 2025 arrived in retail stores in May. They cost CHF 11.52/kg (USD 14.48) at the time, making them 4.8% more expensive than in May of the previous year and 11.3% more expensive than in May 2023. Non-organic apricots were also more expensive during this period, at CHF 7.32/kg (USD 9.20), but to a lesser extent (+3.4% compared to May 2024 and +1.8% compared to May 2023). At this point, there were no Swiss apricots on the market yet – these are prices for foreign produce.
