On July 14, 2025, Liaocheng in Shandong Province shipped its first batch of Yali pears for the year, totalling 300 tons. The fruit was cleared through an on-site inspection by Liaocheng Customs at the Guanxian Export Fruit Packaging Factory before being sent to Qingdao Port. From there, the pears are headed to markets in eight destinations, including Western Europe, Thailand, and Malaysia, as reported by Guojiguoshu.
This marks the beginning of Liaocheng's 2025 fresh fruit export season. In recent years, the city has steadily increased shipments of apples, pears, and other fruits. Customs have expanded their registration system to include cherries, nectarines, and strawberries, aiming to support the region's growing fruit export capacity.
Liaocheng's Yali pear industry, in particular, has seen significant growth. As of late 2024, the region had over 40 registered export orchards and packaging facilities. Annual exports surpassed 10,000 tons for the first time, reaching more than 20 international markets across the EU, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
