A project of Ondine's scope requires a specially designed processing plant. The cooperative partnered with the Italian company Unitec at the Agrintesa plant in Bagnacavallo, located in the Emilia-Romagna region. "We chose an efficient and versatile line," explained Director Cristian Moretti. "It processes Ondine peaches and nectarines in the summer and pears in the winter. Delicacy and precision are the watchwords for this line."

The UNICAL 10.0 grader is designed to handle fruit. It is equipped with a size and weight grading system, as well as Unitec's innovative Peach Vision and Pears Sort technologies. These systems analyze the color and quality, both internal and external, of each peach, flat nectarine, and pear with extreme reliability. They identify any defects the fruit may have with extreme precision and sort the fruit by degree of ripeness, thus guaranteeing a certain level of quality.

The plant also uses an automatic crate filler system that allows the product to be partially or fully pre-calibrated in crates. This system provides greater flexibility for various processes and simplifies the handling and packaging of the fruit. It significantly improves the efficiency of the entire process.

The innovative system integrates three types of packaging systems specially designed to handle various types of packaging, such as alveolar trays, crates, and flat trays. Particular attention is given to processing the latter for flat nectarines. This allows operators to focus on specific tasks, increasing productivity and specialization.
