Blueberry prices in Ukraine continue to decline rapidly, according to analysts at EastFruit. Market players note that such price drops are typical for this period, as it coincides with the active harvest season and increased supply.
Based on EastFruit's daily market monitoring, prices at Ukrainian farms have fallen by an average of 25% since the end of last week. Growers are currently selling blueberries at 220–380 UAH/kg ($5.26–9.08/kg), compared to last week's minimum of 300 UAH/kg ($7.17/kg).
Producers cite increased harvesting activity and the availability of cheaper seasonal fruits and berries as the main causes of the decline. However, despite the drop, current prices are still about 2.6 times higher than in the same period last year, due to reduced yields caused by abnormal weather during the ripening period.
