Australia's avocado industry continues to expand its presence in international markets, with consistent supply across eight growing regions stretching from far north Queensland to the southwest of Western Australia. Growers operate under a range of climate conditions, from subtropical to temperate, allowing for year-round production.
In the 2023/24 season, Australia exported nearly 22,000 tonnes of avocados, accounting for 14.6% of its 150,913-tonne total crop. This represents a seven-fold increase in avocado exports over the past three years. The export volume is expected to continue growing in existing markets, with additional efforts underway to access new destinations.
Avocados produced in Australia are generally recognized for their quality, flavour, and freshness. The industry benefits from its proximity to nearby Asian and Middle Eastern markets, helping maintain product consistency during export.

Growers in different regions report healthy crop outlooks despite recent dry conditions. Kym Thiel, a grower, packer, and exporter from the Tristate region, noted that tree health is good and fruit quality is strong. Similar observations have been made by Brad Rodgers, a grower in Western Australia, who expressed confidence in the upcoming season.
To support ongoing export efforts, Avocados Australia is implementing marketing and trade engagement activities in key markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Middle East. These initiatives target both the retail and food service sectors.
Australian avocados are also scheduled to be showcased at major international trade exhibitions in the 2025-2026 financial year. These events include the China International Fruit Expo in Shanghai (27–29 August 2025), Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong (3–5 September 2025), and the SMTS Supermarket Trade Show in Tokyo, Japan (18–20 February 2026).
Avocados Australia CEO John Tyas stated that the organisation will continue supporting exporters through ongoing trade engagement programs aimed at strengthening Australia's position in global avocado markets.
