Registration is still open for the international Prognosfruit event, to be held in Angers from August 6th to 8th. "Registrations are open until July 20th," explains Sandrine Gaborieau, marketing and communications manager at the National Apple Pear Association (ANPP), which is responsible for organizing the event. "It is a unique opportunity to take part in this international congress, which is emblematic of the sector. This year, Prognosfruit will be held in France, a major apple-producing country. The last time the event took place in France was in 2012 in Toulouse."

An international event bringing professionals together from all over the world
In all, between 250 and 300 professionals from all over the world are expected to attend. "Among the registrations already received are participants from France, of course, but also from the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Austria, England, Denmark, the United States, and South Africa. We are even expecting a Chinese delegation to talk about apple production in China. We will also have speakers from India, Turkey, and Ukraine on video. This will give us a very broad overview of apple and pear production worldwide."
On the program for the morning of August 6th: Luc Vanoirbeek (COPA COGECA) and Daniel Sauvaitre (ANPP) will welcome participants after a cocktail reception. Philippe Binard (WAPA) will then talk about apple crop forecasts for 2025/2026, and Ursula Schockemoehle (AMI) will review the apple market for the coming season. There will then be a presentation on the organic market, followed by speakers from various countries who will talk about their own markets. Gil Kaufman (WAPA) will continue with a forecast for the 2025/2026 pear harvest, followed by Ursula Schockemoehle (AMI), who will close the morning with a market update for the coming season.
A carbon-neutral event with a focus on local produce made in France
The afternoon will be devoted to two major themes: processing and sustainable development, with a particular focus on low-carbon production. "As such, the event will be carbon neutral. We are having a carbon assessment of the event carried out by Greenflex, and we will be offsetting this by planting apple trees. We have chosen a venue that will make it easy to walk between the hotels and the various venues, with the exception of the technical visits. We also wanted to focus on the local aspect, whether it be the catering, the goodies - all French except for one European - or even the gala evening, hosted by a local artist.
On August 7th, a gala dinner will be held at 7.30 pm at the Jean Lurçat museum, followed on August 8th by a technical visit on the theme of varietal research at IFO, followed by visits to an innovative orchard and the new Innatis Group fruit station.
The various presentations at the conference will be translated into French, English, Italian, and German. Click on this link to register for the event.
