Vietnam is continuing to experience strong demand for high-quality imported fruit, and the U.S. has been its leading supplier in the first five months of 2025. Vietnam imported $203 million worth of fruits and vegetables from the U.S. in the period, a virtual 60% rise in the same period last year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The U.S. is now dominating the 26% market share of Vietnam's imported fruit and vegetable market, PetroTimes reports.
This boom follows Vietnam's Decree 73, lowering its import duty on most farm products to 0 per cent. American fruit exporters acted quickly, shipping a consistent supply to take advantage of Vietnam's growing demand for food quality and safety guarantees.
Vietnam pepper exports have been in a sound position, even though with lower volumes. Vietnam shipped 98,600 tons of pepper in the first half of 2025, which were valued at $684.4 million. Although volume fell 13.6%, export value increased 39.2% year-on-year, supported by record-high prices averaging $6,937 per ton.
The U.S.-Vietnam trade corridor continues to be vibrant with fresh fruits as a high-growth product. U.S. exporters as well as Vietnamese distributors both have seen recent trends show high demand, improved margins, and increased bilateral agri-trade prospects in 2025.
