Vitafresh Produce always looks forward to the British berry season. On occasion, they will import soft fruit from Spain or Belgium, but at this time of year, they mainly source from their growers throughout the UK.
"We like to champion British growers where possible," said Natalie King, Sales Development Manager at Vitafresh.

Strawberries
"The soft fruit season is well anticipated by the British public. We had our first strawberries in mid-May and expect the season to run through to October/ November. British growers are very innovative and are extending the season by planting at different times and planting new varieties."
The recent warm weather has brought a flush of fruit, and there is a peak in production at the moment, which, according to Natalie, may lead to a shortage later in the season.
Vitafresh supplies customers across all of the UK's Wholesale Markets & direct to Foodservice.

Raspberries
"We have been starting to see raspberries since last week," commented Natalie. "This is also a bit early, we expect to see the peak volumes from mid-June, with some later fruiting varieties being harvested through October. There is good demand for raspberries at the moment. Our growers are also changing how & when they plant the canes to extend the season.
Gooseberries
Gooseberries is a bit of a niche product in the UK. "Although we don't expect huge volumes, we are looking forward to their arrival. They have a bit of a cult following."
