Odisha has dispatched three international mango consignments to London, Birmingham, and Dubai, marking the state's presence in global markets. This move showcases the capabilities of farmer producer companies (FPCs) in Odisha. The initiative highlights Palladium's role in enhancing market facilitation, driving export readiness among local producers.
From Balangir district, 2 tons of mangoes were shipped to London, making it the district's first mango export. This follows earlier training in Patnagarh by Palladium, focusing on equipping farmers and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) with essential international market access skills.
During the mango festival in Sambalpur, 3.5 tons of premium mangoes were exported to England and Dubai. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in the event, flagging off the consignment. He remarked, "This is not just the export of mangoes; it is the export of our farmers' hard work, dedication, and dreams. Odisha is fast emerging as a trusted supplier of high-quality agricultural products. By connecting our farmers — especially women — to global markets, we are creating pathways to better livelihoods and sustainable rural prosperity."
An Export Sensitization Workshop was subsequently organized by NABARD with Palladium India. Held on May 24 at the Horticulture Training Institute in Nildunguri, Sambalpur, the workshop aimed to enhance the export readiness of FPOs. It covered essential skills, knowledge, and market linkages required for participants in the mango value chain.
